Retail sales growth holds firm in August
Retail sales growth eased slightly to 3.3% year-on-year (y/y) in August, from 3.4% in July, but came in above market expectations of a 3.0% increase. On a month-on-month (m/m) seasonally-adjusted basis, sales volumes declined by 0.3%, following 2.4% increase in July (revised from 2.5%), suggesting some loss of momentum after July's strong gain.
